Schedule of Examinations, Venues and Fees
Venues
Candidates may sit for the Written Parts of the Competency in Optometry Examination in Australia (Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane and other capital cities if suitable arrangements can be made), New Zealand (Auckland), United Kingdom (London), South Africa (Johannesburg) and the USA (Washington). The venue for the Clinical Parts of the examination will be the Australian College of Optometry in Melbourne, Australia.

First Session: Monday 2nd April 2012 (3 hour MCQ paper), Tuesday 3rd April 2012 (3 hour short answer paper)
Closing Date: Friday 24 February 2012
Second Session: Monday 10 September 2012 (3 hour MCQ paper), Tuesday 11 September 2012 (3 hour short answer paper)
Closing Date: Friday 3rd August 2012
Applicants are only able to apply for the examination once they have been assessed as eligible. Please note that Form 2 applications take a minimum of 2 weeks to process, Form 3 applications take a minimum of 6 weeks to process.
Clinical Parts
Both sections of the Clinical Examination (Skills Station and Patient Examination) will now be held over a period of one week. This means that candidates will undertake the Skills Station and Patient Examination components of the examination within a five day period (scheduled from Monday morning to Friday evening).

You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) on successful completion of the written examination component. Candidates are able to select their preferred session, however, this session is not guaranteed. Sessions will not be allocated and candidates will not be advised of final session until after the relevant closing dates. If both sessions reach full capacity, an additional session will be arranged.
The clinical examination venue is the Australian College of Optometry in Melbourne.
